Merging Chemistry and Design: The Creation of the DrJFChem Logo

I'm thrilled to share with you the new DrJFChem logo, a blend of my enthusiasm for chemistry and interest in graphic design. This starting point was created during my holiday in Spain, and like all great projects, it will only get better with time as I continue tweaking and refining it.

The logo features "DrJFChem" in Ubuntu Bold, a modern font, in our signature orange color. The font and colour choice aim to convey the lively and approachable nature of our chemistry content. Above the text, you'll find a coral-coloured conical flask filled with a bubbling turquoise liquid, representing the sense of discovery that chemistry ignites within us.

This turquoise liquid was inspired by the luminol reaction, a captivating chemical reaction that produces chemiluminescence – the emission of light without heat. When luminol reacts with an oxidising agent, such as hydrogen peroxide, in the presence of a catalyst like iron or copper, it forms an excited state product. As this product returns to its ground state, it releases energy in the form of light, creating the beautiful glow we see. This fascinating reaction is a perfect example of the beauty and intrigue that chemistry has to offer.

Encircling the logo is a coral-coloured benzene ring, an iconic structure that symbolizes the foundation of organic chemistry. This element signifies the solid knowledge base that DrJFChem strives to deliver.

This initial design represents a beginning, and I'm excited to continue refining it as we move forward!
